The Danieli's food and drink runs from a rooftop dining room with an open terrace to a lobby bar under Murano chandeliers. Executive Chef Adriano Rausa, previously of W Rome, leads the kitchens.

Restaurant Terrazza Danieli
At the top of the hotel, with indoor seating behind glass and an open terrace beyond it. The panorama takes in the lagoon and the islands, with basilica domes marking the skyline. It is arguably the best rooftop table in Venice, and the reason many guests book dinner before they book a room.
Chef Rausa's menus follow the season and the water. Produce comes largely from Sant'Erasmo, the lagoon island that has supplied Venetian kitchens for centuries — its violet artichokes and early vegetables are local landmarks in their own right — alongside fish landed in the lagoon and the northern Adriatic.

Lobby bar · Palazzo Dandolo
Bar Dandolo
Named for the family who built the palace, and set just off the legendary lobby with its pink marble columns and golden staircase. It is a hideaway rather than a scene: coffee in the morning, afternoon tea with pastries, and cocktails from early evening, with soft piano running underneath.
Order a Bellini or a spritz and sit where the light comes down through the atrium. Non-residents are welcome, which makes it one of the more achievable ways to see the inside of the palace.

Bar Terrazza Danieli
The terrace's own bar, and the place to be at around seven in the evening. Wines by the glass, classic and Venetian cocktails, and a short menu of snacks designed for the hour when the sun drops behind the Giudecca and the water turns copper.
Aperitivo here is the single easiest thing to recommend to anyone staying in the city, whether or not they are staying at the hotel. Arrive early in high season.

The full menu is available 24 hours a day. Breakfast in bed with the shutters open onto the lagoon is the version most guests remember; dinner laid in a suite works just as well when you have spent the day walking on stone.

Eating at the Danieli
Yes. The rooftop restaurant and both bars welcome visitors as well as residents. Because the terrace has a limited number of tables and a very well-known view, book well ahead for dinner and for sunset aperitivo.
Smart casual across the outlets, edging towards elegant for dinner on the terrace. Beachwear and sportswear are out of place; a jacket is never wrong.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and allergy-specific requests are accommodated. Flag them when you reserve the table so the kitchen can prepare properly rather than improvise.
At Terrazza Danieli, on the roof. Come early if you want a terrace table with the morning light on the water — it is the quietest the view ever gets.
